FAIA is a Swiss brand founded in 2023 that focuses on designing sustainable and functional genuine leather goods. Our products are handmade by a small family-owned producer in Italy, which was carefully selected and follows fair working conditions.

Our product is for all people who seek practicality without giving up on style and comfort. We are creating long-lasting and timeless products that will be part of your everyday life, whether for work, meeting family and friends or traveling. FAIA aims to be valued mainly for its simplicity, quality, sustainability, craftsmanship and transparency.

Behind the brand

Iana is Brazilian and came to Switzerland to follow her husband, Fabio. In Brazil, she worked in the small leather goods company of her family and grew up "smelling the leather", as she likes to say. She dreamed of continuing this family passion.

During her master's degree in Switzerland, she was searching for a leather backpack for her daily activities and study trips. Meanwhile, Fabio, who loves design, was also looking for a particular backpack for work. They both realized how difficult it was to find a genuine leather backpack in the market that combines a simple but elegant design, high quality, sustainability and functionality. Together they thought: Why not create the desired product and benefit from the knowledge they already had? Therefore, they decided to create prototypes in Brazil and started to test them. Slowly the project was getting off the paper to become reality.

During this journey, they discovered the Italian manufacturing and due to its craftmanship, quality and strategic location, they chose to look for a producer in Italy. After more than a year of extensive research and development of various prototypes, FAIA was finally born!

The meaning behind the brand's name

FAIA means "beech" in Portuguese. It is a special tree prevalent in Europe and can live as many as 300 years. Our name symbolizes long-lasting products of high quality. Sustainability has also been one of our core values since we started working on the idea, because we believe that our products can make a difference. We think about the others, the future and want to contribute to a better environment in any way we can.
